Mother Knows Best

Mother knows best… Isn’t it funny as adults we can still hear our Mother’s or Grandmother’s or favorite Aunt’s voice go off in our head with the little mannerly advice they taught us as children.
Though it is post Mothers’ Day, a mothers’ counsel is always important—here are some worthwhile pieces of advice from women, whom have mothered many.
Mother Teresa… “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” Being present in the events and people who are in front of you is active listening, which is the mannerly thing to do.
Another one of Mother Teresa’s famous quotes, “Bloom where you are planted,” and she admits it is easier said than done. What if the garden you find yourself in is full of weeds: ego-driven people, negative thinkers, control freaks and gossipers? Don’t fall into the trap of retaliation; react to the “weeds” professionally and through proper channels of communication.
Queen Mary Elizabeth…“I do not want a husband who honors me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman.”
Wow, some strong words said in 1923, but how they hold so true. Ask yourself who loves you as a woman…and avoid those who don’t.
Oprah Winfrey… “Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity.” Be prepared, no matter what endeavors you partake. That means being early for meetings and functions, understanding and adhering to proper attire and doing your homework so you can relax and get the most out of your interaction.
