THE TRUNK SHOW ADVANTAGE

Trunk shows have been around for a long time.  Originally, affluent women were the target market.  In recent years, this direct sales business has expanded and  increased in popularity.  For many women, it is the smart way to shop.

What is a trunk show?

It is a limited-time [usually a week] showing of a single line of clothing.  It is typically by invitation and located in the home of the sales associate, at a boutique, or in a department store that offers exclusive lines like Saks Fifth Avenue.  Attendees can expect to find a representation of all sizes, but not all sizes in all items.  From casual to black tie, you will discover designer quality separates you won’t find in any store.  Production on these items is limited, so you will not see yourself coming and going.

Trunk shows are ideal:

• If you want a personalized wardrobe filled with clothes you love and wear.  Consider attending one or more shows to find what suits your lifestyle, body shape and budget.
• If you have little time, but want to look put together.
• If you hate to shop, but care about your appearance.

If you identify with any of the above, you may want to find out who is holding trunk shows in your area.  Some names of retailers who do these shows include Worth, Doncaster, and TrendyTrousseau.  Some women may not want to attend a show, because they are concerned that will be pressured to buy.  On the contrary, trunk shows cater to women who want a more relaxing shopping experience.

You will receive expert one-one-one personalized service by a sales associate who can advise you on the best styles for your body shape and the right sizes.  She will keep a record of your purchases and, in future seasons, identify pieces to add to what you already own.  You will find that this will cut down on impulse purchases, and it will stretch your clothing budget.  Once she knows your taste and sizes, she can place orders without you having to visit her showroom.  A timesaver!

Although your selections must be ordered and you will have to wait, you are usually buying for the next season.  Your items will arrive before the weather changes.
