TOP 10 REASONS TO COOK AT HOME

1. You know exactly what you are eating. Believe me, you probably don’t really want to know what you are eating at some restaurants. Since you prepared it, you know what’s in it. You know the ingredients. You know how clean (or dirty) your kitchen is.
2. You save some major cash. You can cook a delicious and nutritious meal at home for much less money than eating out. Better quality food. Cheaper. Sounds like a win-win to me.
3. You eat healthier AND smaller portions. I personally believe that pretty much anything you make at home is going to be healthier than eating out. Plus, I bet you will eat less.
4. You save time. YES, you heard me right. Think about all the time it takes to figure out where you are going to eat, getting in the car, driving there, waiting for a table, waiting for the food… Yep, it saves time in the long run.
5. You can set an example for your kiddos. My dad always talks about Sunday dinners when he was a kid. You HAD to be there. No excuses allowed. Not only does cooking bring families and friends to the table, it teaches kids about tradition and respect. Love this. You also create wonderful food memories. You pass recipes down to your kids. I bet your kids will appreciate and remember it more than a trip to McDonald’s.
6. You can make it a family event. I hear it all the time, “I don’t have time to cook.” Sure you do. Eating is a necessity of life. You have time to go to the bathroom, right? You have time to bathe, right? You have time to cook. The change of thought is making it a priority because you ARE worth it. You are so much better than frozen meals and take-out. Get your partner and kids involved. I bet they may even have fun. Switch your thinking about cooking.
7. You can show your creativity. I LOVE getting in the kitchen and getting creative and seeing what I can come up with. Sure, some dishes are kinda weird but they are edible. Some totally rock. Keep trying. You may actually enjoy it. Look at cooking as a new form of entertainment.
8. You look at restaurant food differently. Sure, it may be pretty to look at but how nutritious is it? Plus, the less you eat out, the more special it is when you do AND you can spurge and go to a really fancy place because you have saved so much money.
9. You have loads of leftovers. Embrace leftovers. Cook once eat twice even three times. Food doesn’t need to be fancy. It needs to be whole. It needs to be real.
10. You slow down. Life is crazy busy. Eating at home slows down the “rat race,” brings us back to the basics, and gives us time at home.
